Closed beta with our first parents

Kids' rides without chaos

You drive there, another parent drives back. Melon is a carpooling app for kids' rides to practice, activities and school. Only within a closed group of parents added by your club or school, never with strangers.

  • Only parents added by the club
  • Follow the ride live
  • Free pilot

The app is not in the app stores yet. We are testing it with our first clubs and schools first.

Sound familiar from your parents' group chat?

Two hours in the car for every practice? Melon shares those runs between parents.

16:30

A ride request in the group chat. Practice starts at 17:00 and nobody has answered.

Several cars

From the same club, to the same place, at the same time. Each with empty seats.

Who takes whom?

Arrangements get lost in hundreds of messages. Nobody is sure who is already taking whom.

Before and after

Same practice.
A completely different afternoon.

Three steps

How Melon works

  1. 1

Your club adds you to the group

Your club or school adds you to the group for your child's team or class. Nobody can join on their own or find the group in a search.

You immediately see what is going on in the group: upcoming practices and matches, the other parents, and how many children are waiting for a ride in the coming days.

    • Group events with separate times to and from the activity
    • A list of parents with one-tap call and email
    • A transport summary for the coming days
Group screen “Group A – born 2015” with a transport summary for the coming days, demo data
  2. 2

Post a need or a free seat

    • Need a ride?Add a request for your child.
    • Got a free seat?Offer it with one tap.

You don't have to do both runs: you take the kids to practice, another parent picks them up. Before you offer a seat you see how much longer your route will be, and the child's parent accepts or rejects the offer.

    • To and from the activity are two separate rides
    • A preview of the impact on your route, e.g. +10 min and +5.7 km
    • The child's parent accepts or rejects the offer
“Who needs a ride” screen with an Offer ride button, demo data
  3. 3

    Ride together

Everyone in the group can see who is taking whom. No more chasing answers in the chat.

Each child shows a driver and a car. If the ride back is not arranged yet, the group sees a “Waiting for a driver” status. The driver gets a route with the next pickups and navigation, and you see the car on the map and get a notification when your child has arrived.

    • A driver and car assigned to every child
    • A clear status while a ride is not arranged yet
    • The car live on the map and a drop-off notification
“Today's ride” screen: to and from the activity shown separately, with a driver and car for each child or a “Waiting for a driver” status, demo data
Group map

The whole team
on one map.

  • Who needs a rideand who can take them, visible on the map at a glance.
  • To and from the activityare two separate rides, arranged independently.

Who can see your child's rides?

It's the first question every parent asks. Melon is not a ride-share marketplace with strangers but a closed group run by your club or school. We answer plainly by describing how the app works.

Only parents added by the club or school

The club or school creates the accounts and group members. There is no open sign-up and no group search, so nobody from outside can join your child's team or class.

Live location for the child's parents only

During the ride you can see on the map where the car carrying your child is. Only the parents of the children in that car can see the driver's position, nobody else in the group. You also get a notification when the route starts and when your child is dropped off.

Addresses visible to group members only

A child's address and pick-up point are visible only to parents in the same group, so they can plan the route. People outside the group see nothing at all.

Your data, your decision

The group chat is for parents only; children have no access to it. Want to leave a group or delete your account and your child's data? Write to your club, school or to us at info@melon.edu.pl and we will delete it.

For clubs, schools and nurseries

We're looking for our first clubs and schools for a pilot

Parents are more likely to sign their child up when they know they don't have to drive them there alone three times a week. Melon works when many families from one team or class use it, which is why we're launching club by club, not with a nationwide campaign.

01

Fewer absences and late arrivals

A child doesn't miss practice just because a parent can't get away from work. Someone on the team has a free seat, and the app shows it.

02

The coach is out of logistics

Parents arrange rides themselves, in one place. No more Friday-night calls about who can take the reserve goalkeeper to the away game.

03

Fewer cars outside the hall and school

Shared rides mean less queueing at the entrance, an easier car park and fewer exhaust fumes around the pitch or the drop-off zone.

04

What we need

A coordinator on the club's or school's side and a group of parents from one team or class, ready to use the app during the pilot.

05

Free pilot

Taking part in the pilot costs nothing, neither for the club or school nor for the parents.

Frequently asked questions about Melon

Who can join a group in Melon?

Only people added by the club or school. The organisation creates parent and child accounts and group memberships. There is no open sign-up and no group search, so nobody from outside can add themselves to a group.

Do I have to drive both ways?

No. The ride to the activity and the ride back are two separate rides. You can take the kids to practice and leave the pick-up to another parent, or the other way round.

Can I see where my child is during the ride?

Yes. During the ride you can see on the map where the car carrying your child is. Only the parents of the children in that car can see it. You also get a notification when the driver starts the route and when your child has been dropped off, and the trip logbook keeps the driver, the car, and the pick-up and drop-off times.

What if the driver can't make it?

A driver can withdraw no later than two hours before the ride. The child's parents are notified and the ride request goes back to the group, waiting for a driver.

Is Melon only for sports clubs?

No. Melon works wherever children from one group regularly travel to the same place: a sports club, a school, a nursery, the swimming pool or any after-school activity.

Do drivers earn money from rides?

No. Melon helps parents share rides they are making anyway. It is not a transport or taxi service.

When will the app be available?

We are testing it with our first clubs and schools first. Leave your details and we'll let you know when we're ready for your team or class.

Does Melon cost anything?

During the pilot Melon is free for clubs, schools and parents. We will announce the post-launch terms before the app reaches the app stores.
